Nope I kept them in! The Add a leaf you're talking about? Kept that in, I have 2012 Tacoma leafs with no AAL for another trailer build I'm starting on. You will be happy with those leafs for sure!

Finally spent the time to install mine today, along with a ubolt flip and daystar cradles.thwt should help with the sagging with the trailer loaded down.

Debating between a steel bumper with swing out tire carrier for my M-416 build (no thread yet) and just mounting the spare to the front passenger side of the trailer. I already have a lot of weight in the back with a steel drawer unit and wondering if the swing out is going to add too much weight. Any thoughts?

Better to ask what I have not done.
does the trailer have a lot of tongue weight right now as is? when we built ours we found that with the water tank not being 100%full the tongue could be picked up with maybe 50-70 lbs trying to pick it up. and with out the trailer sitting on its jacks or on the truck you would watch the trailer do a hand stand when you opened the rear swing out. and to add you want about 20-30% of the trailers weight in tongue weight because if you don't the trailer will kinda teeter up and down on the hitch when hitting bumps or anything going down the road. this will be felt in the truck. as well as when breaking you could be removing weight from the back tires of the truck if you had to slam on the breaks with the trailer not being equipped with brakes. if the trailer does have breaks you will find that you will have to set them higher on the high way to compensate for the lifting of the truck on hard braking situations. hope this helps and if i did not say something clearly let me know!

    Jake,
I have probably 50 lbs on the tongue with tongue box, 20 lb propane tank and two scepter water cans. Also, there are two, type 27 batteries on the front drivers side of trailer. My thought is the tire may balance out the front load. I have drop down legs at the rear of the trailer to stabilize when sitting and pulling out the drawer. Will also be adding RTT platform. No brakes on the trailer and right now running a pintle hitch, so its a little jumpy anyways. Thanks for the feedback.

Yah you want the trailer to be front heavy and if you have a Pintel hitch you know you have plenty of play with the hitch. The bumper and tire carrier will be fine when camping and all that other stuff, the only time you will know the difference is when your driving.

    Bringing this thread back.

What have people run for batteries on trailers? Other than marine/deep cycle. I've also heard of using golf cart batteries.

Just want to get an idea of amp hour range people have tried and if they were happy with them. My trailer will just be powering a water pump, some LED lights, charging phones, go pro, camera, and maybe some kind of electric heater for the tent. I will probably add solar to help with maintaining batteries too.

Is that the setup you have in your trailer? If so, which battery did you go with? I haven't been able to find a true 12v deep cycle battery, they're usually dual purpose and less than 100ah.

Just found this thread and I’m hoping y’all can help me I just picked up this trailer for $200 of Craigslist and I’m wanting to use it to mount my RTT. I’ve already done the axle flip for extra height, but I’m stuck on if I should keep the four lug or if They make adapters so I could mount Toyota rims on the trailer. About mounting the RTT I’m thinking about using my old bed bars to mount the tent or fabbing a bed rack that fits the trailer. Any advice or pointers will be great thanks!

If you plan on running larger tires to match your truck, you should consider matching the bolt pattern, but if you want to keep the same size tires on the trailer, just leave it as is.

For the tent, think about how high you want it off the ground. The trailer looks pretty low, and if you don't plan on raising it, you might want to build a rack tall enough you can use your tent/ladder properly if you can't already.

Depends a lot on your future plans for the thing. Looks like a good platform though!

After flipping the leaf springs the trailer sits about at my waist (I'm 6ft) and I do want to match the bolt pattern on my truck I'm just having problems finding a vendor that has adapters
