where did you find a cable to plug in at the tailgate for hauling trailer? The one I have previously on my trailer does not connect. Am I supposed to find an adapter or a whole new cable?

You mean you need a 4 pin and have a 7 pin?

The male connector I have is a 4 pin I'm pretty sure. The square connector wont line up though.

So the trailer has a 4 pin male connector and you need to hook it to the truck. You'll need one of these adapters, you can pick one up at Walmart. It plugs into the truck and coverts the 7 pin on the truck to a 4pin.

I thought these trucks had both 4pin and 7 pin on the rear bumper?

I know for a fact mine does.

Go check the connections on your bumper again. It has both 7 and 4 pin connections. Two different openings. Right side is the 4 pin

Nope. They come with trailer sockets for both. Sometimes I think they need to publish the truck's manual in brail.

For us second generation it's a plug and play swap to add the 7/4 16+ tacoma / tundra plug however you may need to have it vertical as there is no room between the bumper and the license plate.
