I'm borrowing my friend's 2006 Tacoma PreRunner to help my sister move. I need to pull a U-Haul trailer. UHaul doesn't have any information on which of their trailers can be pulled by this truck. I spent a bunch of time on the phone with them but struck out. Anyone have any info?

    I need to know:
    1) What UHaul Cargo Trailers can be pulled by this truck?
    2) What hitch stuff do we need for that? (I have no idea of proper hitch terminology, but right now truck has a square hole and a place to plug in lights, but no ball-thing).

    The truck is:
    - 2006 Tacoma Prerunner
    - 2WD
    - 4 door, full cab
    - standard bed

    THANK YOU SO MUCH!IMG_6132.jpg IMG_6134.jpg IMG_6136.jpg

You can pull any of their trailers

Your hitch is fine. All you need is a drop hitch which you can get anywhere

Also you need a 7-4 pin adapter (can get at u haul)

    What hasn't been modified?
Only difference in a regular 4x4 and a prerunner is the missing transfer case and front diff

OP .... Just out of curiosity why wouldn't you ask the owner of the Tacoma?

also on top of the 7 to 4 pin adapter you will need an 4 pin extension as U haul trailers do not have long pig tails.... and they will charge you 20 bucks for a 5 dollar extension.

From the questions asked, I'm assuming that the OP has no experience pulling a trailer... maybe someone who has pulled a trailer before is the first thing needed...

    Too many to list
You need to figure the height of trailer and get the proper drop for ball. A 7 to 4 pin converter and probably a extension. You want the hitch to be as flat as possible. The big thing is find a parking lot and get a feel for towing a trailer. It's gonna brake and drive a lot different. Also practice backing it up. Don't be that person who jackknifes the trailer. You'll damage the truck and trailer.

Judging by the look of the hitch, it doesn't look like its ever been used. No stratches or rust where the chains would take the paint off.

The OP only stuck around for 4 minutes after she posted. I'm guessing we'll never know how bad she crashed the truck and trailer.

Thats one trusting friend to loan their truck to someone who clearly knows nothing about trucks or towing......

Either that or she has pictures ......lol
