I find it mildly annoying that when I bought my Tacoma pick up truck with towing package it did not come with an E brake controller for a trailer. So that said, has anyone installed an E brake controller for trailers on their trucks? I’m referring to the controller that you can adjust brake pressure and squeeze it if you have to emergency brake the trailer. I’m open to any suggestions or recommendations.

    Thanks.

It's because only 12% of owners will ever need on on a Tacoma, and they are super easy to install.

Tekonsha P2 and 2 minutes of digging to find the connector.

There are other ways to mount them but this is my standard emergency-reach-without-looking spot.

Super easy. Your manual states where the pre-wired pigtail is for a controller. Once you have that kick panel off, look where you think the manual is describing, then dig deeper. Way deeper. Its buried under a wire bundle against the firewall.

Then plug in with your pre-purchased adapter harness, plug the other end into your controller, and button it up. Done. Easy.

Hey - great ideas/suggestions guys. Very helpful. Thanks and much appreciated.
We have them on ALL the trucks at work where we are pulling trailers that are 9600 +/- lbs. while I have never had to use it, it just makes me feel better knowing it’s there.

Bought my tekonsha P3 and installed in last year when I bought my travel trailer/camper. Took longer to drill the rear of the dash pocket, than to install.

I plug into the 12-volt and rock-and-roll with my Prodigy 90250... works like a champ.

Yeah, I have a Tekonsha P2. Solid, reliable unit.
I had a Teconsha in my F250 before the Tacomas. They just work.

If I didn't I'd probably buy the Redarc (but I have no actual experience with it).

It's a custom setup, there used to be an option for custom layout and don't see it anymore. Might have to email them to check if they are able to make more.
