    i have a 2011 6 cyl tacoma 4x4 with the tow package .
or , i did have the tow package .
i just got my truck back from a rochester , ny dealer and i had the frame replaced , along with a bunch of other work . the whole thing was a terrible grind . anyways , the bumper broke off just prior to taking the truck in due to incredible rust . tow hitch with it . they would not replace the bumper even though you break off bits of the brackets with your hand . it came back without the tow hitch .
shouldn't that be covered since i purchased a truck with a tow package ?
    thanks , jim

Ask the dealer, but I don't think anything but the frame and a few minor parts is covered in the recall.

My hitch wasn’t replaced on my recall. The thing was so rusty and the bumper support bar. Rusted in multiple pieces

The hitch is not included. Your frame was replaced under the conditions of a class lawsuit settlement. The conditions don't include the hitch. Why? Who knows why the negotiation didn't include the hitch?

Which, as you have learned, is integral to the bumper.

I learned this realtime when my truck frame was being replaced and scrambled to secure an aftermarket bumper with an integral hitch.

Sorry, but you too are on your own.

not sure where you are in New York but I got a salvage tailgate, bumper, and tow hitch from https://fenixparts.com/. I gave them the color code, year, model (all that stuff) and asked specifically for parts from southern trucks rust free. It was more expensive but I think I got everything for $1200. They shipped it to the nearest location of theirs near me (Binghamton). I would give them a call if you want OEM as I couldn’t find a cheaper alternative and new was way too expensive and I didn’t trust the fitment or quality of Ebay

I got a used hitch, bumper bar, and rear bumper combo for $100 and an 1.5 hour drive from the marketplace here on this forum.

I have to add +1 on the you got a new frame….for free and new lower control arms and your coolant was changed and you got new brake lines. You are getting a great life extension for the price of a rear bumper and hitch.

Having lived in salt-land vehicles are life limited by rust. My buddy who bought my 2004 F150 just scrapped it as the floor boards finally fell out. So, rock on and enjoy the next 10 years of your truck.

And, fluid film your brand new frame. Every. Every. Year.

thanks folks . i am indeed happy that i have a new frame . i also spent a bunch on new rockers , as they were rotted . dropped another 4700$ on various fixes while the truck was at the dealers . they neglected to replace several items that we agreed to . they had my truck for 23 days and when i got it back i had to have it towed back in 'cuz tranny fluid was dripping onto the ground and the truck shook hard @ 60 mph . so , another 4 days . ( turned out to be overspill in the skid plate ) i had a loaner of course , but i live 90 miles from the dealer . now i need a bumper/tow hitch and it's getting new brakes and new sneakers next week ... and fluid filmed at the same time . i love the truck and i use it like a truck . hopefully my investment pays off .
thanks again . i'm new here , great forum !

I spent about 2/3 of that on basic maintenance, fluids, and suspension parts when I had mine done in 2018. Best money I ever spent.

Likewise, I dropped many $K to go with my frame replacement. I had them do all of the hoses, new UCAs, new suspension, Intermediate steering shaft + More. I wish I had also done the steering rack when it was apart as it failed about a year and a half later. Best money spent. My son now has my Taco and it was essentially a life-reset for the truck.

You may be better off with an aftermarket bumper/receiver. When I replaced mine I noticed there were two holes on top of the receiver tube, one on each side. None on the bottom side for drainage. Mine was filled with pine needles, leaves, dirt, and whatever else. With the aftermarket bumper/receiver I bought I put my money towards having it galvanized rather than powder coating. and used aerosol paint as a top coat. It's a bumper it's going to get beat up.

Hopefully someone can help me on this old thread so I have 11 dbcb trd sprt and had my frame replaced 3 yrs ago. I've been restoring it as much as I can to like new condition bc it's cheaper than buying new and my e trailer I got seemed correct but my bumper brackets are welded to the frame and can't be removed to install the new hitch. Anyone else encounter this problem? Any help would be super helpful thanks in advance

Could you post some pictures so we can see what you have. I have ‘08 and my bumper attaches to rear bumper reinforcement beam that’s a separate piece that is held by the the receiver hitch. I’m also assuming the ‘08 and ‘11 are the same.

    Here’s a picture of what I have:

The entire rear factory bumper and hitch assembly come off as a single piece. If memory serves correctly it’s three bolts per side going into the frame.

Edit: looks like five from this video. Super easy to tell if what you have is factory or not.

Thank you all for the help, so I figured it out basically my new frame has the bumper brackets welded on to the frame so anything other than an identical match can't be used lucky I found some on ebay. Basically I needed no brackets on the hitch I'll post a Pic to show the difference just in case anyone else has my same experience thank you again!!!!
