I have the tow package on my 2016 Tacoma, but the trailer hitch was not included. The dealer told me they don't come with the towing package and would have to buy it separately. Is this true? Did anyone get the hitch with the towing package?

Yes you have to buy the ball insert. I got mine at Walmart with 2 or 3 inch drop ...2" ball. I think it was $24

You will need to buy a specific "drop" according to the trailer you are pulling .... like smitty99 said .... walmart.
I don't have a trailer so I just bought a 2" drop just in case I need a ball insert.

Yes that is the way it works. I had to buy my own.
Maybe Ram or one of the twins will give you a hitch with one of their vehicles:rolleyes:

I've never heard of any dealer giving you a tow hitch. You'll need to buy the correct drop and opening for the correct ball size that you'll need.
