Your welcome, my truck was a dealer loaner (I bought it at 1000 miles) and someone before me was afraid of hills and taught my truck to hold 3rd gear down all hills if I touched the brakes. It wouldn't shift up until it detected that the transmission had some resistance. After i reset it it shifts up as it accelerates down hill, like it should.

You'll find this to be a very active, friendly and helpful place Shroth. However, you'll also find that we give each other a lot of shit. :) I think this is probably one of the more tight knit groups of vehicle enthusiast I have seen outside of the Jeep community. Glad to have you as a member.

One other thing, these trucks start to run better after about 7500 miles

Hahaha.... oh man, I hope you didn't buy a Tacoma for the great fuel economy, you're going to be sorely disappointed. :) My Rubicon, a literal box on wheels got better fuel economy than my Tacoma.

You should get that, I was getting 23-27 in the summer on 91-non ethanol on stock 245/70/r16s , now I get 17-20 on winter 91-non ethanol gas and 255/85/r16 E ply

I haven't taken any long drives in this one, but my 2nd gens were all averaging around 20-21. So far around town, I am getting about the same. I think it might do a little better on the highway, I will find out this weekend. Still, I had a 330 HP twin turbo BMW that averaged 31 on the highway at light speed.... seems that Toyota could give us a little better MPG. I think that was a huge part of going to the 6 speed from the old 5.

The manual says to use S5 and etc when towing. It also advises you to tow less than 65 mph. I tow frequently and usually get somewhere around 15 mpgs. Normal highway mpgs are usually around 20 mpgs.

With the weather (& not having a licnse plate until yesterday) I haven't tested anything. I can tell you that I think mileage in general is getting better & that I seem to get better MPG when I use my foot instead of the cruise control!! Makes no sense. Will maybe hook it up tomorrow & see what happens. Thanks for caring enuf to ask!!

cruise control guzzles gas in these for some reason.

Cruise causes the tranny to kick out of overdrive at the slightest bit of struggle. I almost never use it and have no issues with the tranny shifting excessively.

OMG........filled on the way to the track tonight & got over 21 mpg without the cruise!!! LMFAO every time I see "Lt Dangle". I have coffee with retired CO's from Attica prison.......know they'll get a kick out of it. Maybe I just have a dirty mind :)
