Trailer Light Wiring Harness

I scraped the trailer light plug in off my truck while offroading today... I don't want to buy a replacement and rip it off again (My dad has done this a few times in his Tundra). I'm wondering if anyone else has done this and what they did to fix it? I was looking at the back bumper and was thinking of drilling a hole through beside the license plate and having the plug in/harness where Chevy puts theirs. Anyone tried this or anything similar?

What he said. One of the worse placed they could have put that. I bent mine within 2 weeks of having the truck. Bent it back. Then bent it again. Said screw it and threw it in the bumper. At least they fixed this problem with the new design.

 

I just put my drop hitch in when headed off road. Have not had a problem since.
