Hey everyone this is my first post so if I miss some thing let me know. OK so I have a 1999 2.7 manual 4x4 tacoma. When I plug it up to my trailers all the lights work but the turn signals and the brakes don't illuminate very bright. Unless you were paying close attention you wouldn't even notice when I hit my brakes when my ID lights are on. The trailer has been rewired and it works fine with several other trucks. When I first bought my Yoda I had to rewire it and ended up having to put a 4 flat converter plug on it for vehicles that have independent turn signals and brake lights. Basically I have 5 wires under my truck (I'm assuming brake, left turn, right turn, id's, and ground) and that converter made it to the 4 flat. Any ideas on how to correct this problem?
Thanks guys I've used yall's posts for a couple projects now and they are really helpful!

    Hartley,

There is whole section here on towing and includes trailer wiring. You will probably find your answer/solution there. E-Trailer site is also a good source of wiring information.

are you talking about the towing forum? because its just about towing questions.

giving us a link to what you are talking about is more helpful then sending someone on a scavenger hunt trying to find it.

this is the towing section but it has very little info about solving wiring problems: http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/towing/

if you think your problem might be the trailer converter you can try this: http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/1st-gen-tacomas/347758-diy-easy-10-trailer-lights-plugin-fix.html

if its in your truck wiring then all I can suggest is check your ground connections, weak or poor ground connections cause dim lights

Hold on there Turbo, get your underwear out of a bunch!

I just did a search for you in the "technical chat & lighting sections" by using the phrase "trailer wiring" and came up with all sorts of posts concerning trailer wiring.

I would provide you with a link as you suggest but you wouldn't learn how to search the forum on your own and it would rob you of the joy of discovery.

But I will direct you to the left column of the TW homepage as that is where you will locate the various subsections on TW.

Good luck, I hope you find the answer to your question and solve your wiring issues. Please post what you find out as it may help others with like problems.

Incidently, scavenger hunts are fun, you never know what you may come up with. :D

lol, first off it appears you are the one with bunched undies here since no one was being rude to each other and no one directed any comments to you unless you are also reellittlephish and you use more then one account here????.

second, if you post in a thread to try to help someone then you do just that, you help them and not give them tasks to do to "earn" the answers. giving someone a link to a thread where they can find the answers they are looking for is not giving them the answers to the test but mearly pointing them to the correct section of the library to find the answers they are searching for.

third, I responded to a statement from reellittlephish about another forum and suggested a link would be more helpful then telling them to go search through another forum "hoping" to find something useful.

lastly, you say you want people to discover things for themselves then in the very next sentence you ask for the results of them solving the problem. why? so you don't have to learn by discovery yourself  a bit contradictory aren't you.
