The same shit everyone else has.
Kickin around some options on relocating my trailer plug.

The Bullaculla relocate brackets are cool. There are some other nice options Ive come across as well. but.....

I was diggin around under the truck tonight for some ideas while I was re-aiming my auxiliary reverse lights. I may have come up with a super simple solution.

    068E6BA3-7136-4E46-821C-A0E03D6922ED_zps_dd18848517e30e96ae7e0434470bdedff3551ab2.jpg

Has anyone drilled and tapped 2 holes in the trailer hitch to bolt the trailer plug bracket directly to it?

Will drilling 2 M6 holes in the square tubing portion of the the trailer hitch compromise the structural integrity of the the hitch?

Id like to explore this option a bit before I start bending, cutting, and shaping a bracket out of some 12 gauge steel.

Funny I was just looking at mine this afternoon. I was thinking of drilling there with a hinge to allow the trailer plug to flop down when needed and tuck up when not in use.

I took mine and moved it into the hole thats already in the bumper where the driver side license plate light is (obviously removed the driver side light). Fits like a glove and doesnt aim down (which sucks when you actually plug a trailer harness in it)

I've got the Bullaculla relocate bracket, a little spend but solid product and amazing customer service.

That's a great idea I wish I had thought of that before moving mine ( after destroying it on a rock) to between the license plate light and the license plate....the light kinda shines on it, I'll add pics tomorrow if it's not raining... I upgraded the plug to this oneHM48470_3_500.jpg
    http://www.amazon.com/Hopkins-48470...psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=od_aui_detailpages02

It has 7 pin and 4 pin, which cover most trailers...

What I REALLY should have done is relocate it before the damage, like you.

Ive owned the truck for 3 years now and have yet tow anything. I doubt I'll be doing much towing with this truck any time soon so the plug facing down isnt an issue.

Anyone else have any input on drilling into the hitch itself?

Funny you mention that. 1. Its a PA truck so theres a little bit here and there on the chassis from all the salt. 2. Thats the rustiest part of the whole the truck. For some reason, the hitch is way rustier than anything else under the truck.
