I'll just admit this likely is a longshot from the onset. Still, I figure it worth asking...since you may know how to do it!

With the pending arrival of a second kid, I sadly have to part with my dream truck, a 2001 TRD with a manual. We have a 2016 TRD with a manual (damn straight!) on order, scheduled to arrive sometime middle to late July. Further, we have a 16-foot Airstream we currently pull with the 2001.

Even though I use extended mirrors, I would like to be able to see behind the trailer. With our new truck coming with a seven inch LCD right in the dash, is there any reasonable way to use this screen as a rear-view screen for a camera mounted on the trailer?

its possible but you would have to hack the plug/cable going into the tailgate to redirect the camera input from the back tailgate to the back airstream camera.

best bet is to hack a adapter to connect to the plug on the tailgate to connect to the airstream camera plug.

This isn't shipping yet, but it looks like it would be a good option for your use.

Its a backup camera in the license plate frame that sends the video to a smartphone. Its solar powered so it needs no wiring.

There's ways to hack the Entune system - add a bluetooth camera to the rear of trailer and transmit it to the heads up display... here's a website: beatsonicusa.com they have the hack but not specific for a camera.

You could always replace the rearview mirror with one that has a camera display like a 2nd gen. Then you'd have the truck backup camera on the entune display and the trailer backup camera in the rearview mirror all at the same time.
