Can't see how they would be related. This only required pulling down the center piece right and no wiring changes?

I'm the last person with any ideas that could help. Out of curiosity are the map lights LED from the factory? Would removing the bulb and replacing it disrupt the circuit and cause the error?

Since those lights are so close to the passenger air bag warning light/button, I would not be quick to dismiss the warning as a "coincidence" since the warning came on after installing the lights. Just my two cents.

There's no replacing the LED in the upper console. The bought LED goes over the OEM one.

Did you disconnect the battery before installing the new lights? If not you may have blown a fuse or two. I'd check out the fuses before anything else.

The 3rd gens were bad about this (sensitive electronics) and I don't see the 4th gen being any better.

OP, remove the MESO lamps and get it back normal. Verify if warning goes away. You might've bent a terminal while inserting the T harness.

The interior lights on my F-150 don't look removable, never looked to see if they are. I'm guessing the Toyota lights are similar.

Well...it fixed itself. I turned on the truck, sat in the passenger side and the light turned off..and then i got back into driver seat and the alert went away.... so.... that was weird.

Even just changing bulbs while power is in the system (negative battery cable still attached) can cause power-feedback issues. The way the system "just stopped being confused" is typical of such "feedback issues". Learn the lesson, young grasshopper ...
