Closet trail to Santa Rosa is cow mountain up 101 north off talmage rd exit. It's about 1 hour and 15 away. There is nothing in the Sonoma County area unless its private property.

There's a lot of dirt roads and some fun little messing around spots (nothing too crazy) in the Indian Valley Reservoir area, it's all BLM land so have a ball. Take 29 to 53 to 20 then hang a left on Walker Ridge Road, go a mile and you're on BLM land. Take it all the way to Bartlett Springs road, where you can turn right to go back down Bear Valley Road back to 20 for a nice loop or turn left to head down to the reservoir and drive your truck down the boat launch ramp and F around on the lake bed. Lots of little side trails along the way too. Do us all a solid and bring a trash bag and take 5 minutes to fill it up with crap idiots leave behind while you're there!

Stonyford is another nearby option  You can get to it via a creek crossing off Bartlett Springs Road west of the reservoir. I hear Lovelady Ridge is a legit trail but I've never attempted it!

Theres a bunch of stuff up south cow aka red mountain. Rock walls ect. Soundso like cheese has been on much nicer fire roads then I. The main roads are maintained on occasion. It's a blm recreation area
