    Hey Guys

I'm going up to Durango this weekend with the girlfriend and was wondering if y'all could point me in the right direction of some nice trails/backroads to check out? Nothing to crazy but definitely something with some nice scenery. I do have a small lift and 4x4 if that helps with your recommendations.

I am not aware of any close to town, and all of the high stuff is still snowed in. Maybe hit up an outdoors shop in town and see if they can point you in the right direction. Let us know what you come up with.

Welcome to the area. As Wishbone mentioned the high elevation trails, above 9,5000 are still snowed in. It rained last night and likely snowed a little again up high. We went up to looking last weekend and couldn't get into anything offroad yet, but as always the scenery was awesome.

    1) flagstaff/Pinkerton trail-up HW160 about 11 miles. It's an up and down only a few miles, ledgy, good traction, couple switchbacks, low elevation views.

    2) go up to Purgatory ski area. The road has opened up behind it. There will be some snow bashing and hermosa creek should be flowing if you can get that far. Bolom pass may be passable to Rico now.

    3) missionary ridge road is quite mild. 4wd not needed, switchbacks bring you up above the valley. Eventually you look into another drainage to the east. Told hiking up there.

4)go up to silverton and poke around. Maybe you can get up ophir pass a little ways, it wouldn't think to far.

5)Choke cherry/Glade run--don't go here alone, very good rock crawling

The animas in town is raging and if you like rafting that now is a good time. Careful of lighting when the storms roll in.

I miss Durango. Lived in Farmington for 10 years in the 80's. Me and some buddies were wheeling out in choke cherry before we were legal to drive. That was when your rig could climb the "stair steps" you knew you were too cool for school. Lol!

My sis and two nieces are still there. Going back in July....bringing the taco!
