This region doesnt seem to get much action, but thought I would try. Recently moved back here from the Seattle area and I was looking for any trails to ride within about an hour to hour and a half from the Twin Cities. This could be Wisconsin or Minnesota side.

I checked the MN DNR site and looks like most open trails are ATV and possibly others closed for deer season.

Wisconsin seems to be a big NO. Apple Valley site seems possible but quite the initiation process to gain membership. I was really looking to ride this weekend but maybe that won't happen.

    Thanks in advance

Google Wisconsin TWAT...I'm serious. It stands for Transverse Wisconsin Adventure Trail. It winds from Galena, IL through Lake Superior and runs along the Mississippi for a bit. I did it over Labor Day and it is pretty good. There seems to be a good amount the closer you get to Lake Superior thought that is outside of your hour and a half range.

Here are my posts on it:

I enjoy going up to the Nemadji State Forest. You can exit in Askov and start heading up 23 and within about 2 hours you are on the dirt. Best set of trails that I have been on that are in a decent proximity of the cities.

I second the Nemadji forest opportunity. I am biased because my people are from Bruno, and Foxboro, but I love it up there. They leave Gafvert open year round, if you want access to a shitter. But there are a shit ton of dispersed camping options.

    Thanks everyone.

I’ve got to try TWAT. I DI THE WABDR, IDBDR, parts of Utah BDR this summer. I put about 700 off-road miles on the truck. Wisconsin one looks fun too.

When I can free up some more weekend time I will head north and hit some of those. I have to spend 2 weeks in Cloquet every winter for work so maybe I can sneak over there and hit some trails.
