I'm thinking of doing the same thing, but also want a CB loud mic behind the grille. On my '81 pickup the guy before me installed some kind of electric aftermarket horn that was much louder. If memory serves me... It had some sort of auxiliary air tank on it... I dunno, I never looked at it much, just know it was much louder than I expected... It's actually part of the reason I bought the truck, despite it breaking in half a year later... Ha

Do you need to know, or care?
    I'm confused....

Does the horn in your Tacoma blow or does it suck?? Mine blows, and I'd say loud enough.

Driving in New York cabs suck too?? I'd probably agree with you on that, but can't say for sure because I don't drive a cab.

So you want to see something for the cabbie?

500 sounds about right for an entry level setup, the trumpets get expensive! Air tanks & compressors can also go from Harbor freight junk to eye watering expensive (looking at you Viair). As wth anything we do to our trucks, there's a huge price range for mods.

I installed this exact one on my motorcycle! It's not as loud at freeway speeds as I'd like, but in a crowded city and tall buildings, it'll grab people's attention on the next block pretty quick!

not quite trucky, but definitely a simple and cheap mod. they are much louder and "sharper" sound to them that gets peoples attention quickly. think it cost 45ish for the pair, plus a couple misc connectors and a bit of wiring. just make sure you throw the included relay in the garbage before even reading directions. not needed and so much more complicated https://subimods.com/hella-supertone-horn-kit-003399801.html

in the right light they look sweet too. got a lil jdm ricer action going on up front:anonymous:

This video here is the single practical application of this mod: out-douching douches.

But in the end, you'll still be a douche :).

For good reason too. I read about a man on a bicycle who had an epileptic seizure when someone sounded one of these off near him. The seizure didn't kill him, I guess he bled from the brain after he wrecked his bicycle while having his seizure. I guess the shock of the sound was enough to trigger his epilepsy. Sad way to go. Careful where you use this if you install it.

I could easily see this giving an elderly person a heart attack or harming someone with a sensitive heart

I don't think this can be explained in any matter better than that.
