Tranmission software update-shift feeling enhancement (gone bad)

    It's not impossible that they fried it.

    My last job was in PCB assembly manufacturing where we did not only engineering (what I did, design, schematic capture, PCB layout, testing), but stuffing PCBs, assembling product and shipping. So we handled RMAs for some clients, generally start-ups that lacked distribution and warehouses. Anyway, I was continually amazed at the damage people were able to inflict on electronics. I mean things that obviously had been on fire, melted, probably microwaved, shattered.

    A mechanic doing field firmware upgrades, yeah, I'm not sure there's enough ESD and over voltage protection a designer can implement to account for all possible ways that could go sideways.
