2015 4.0 with the auto trans. Had the trans fluid service done about 3 weeks ago while it was at the dealer getting the annual inspection done. This morning I got under it to reinstall the tranny skid that I have for it and noticed that fluid was weeping out of one of the pan plugs. i wiped it cleaned and just checked it again and it has weeped enough to actually drip onto the driveway a bit. It is the plug with "check" stamped into it so I'm wondering if they just overfilled it a bit and it will just weep until it is at the correct level. is this in fact that plug?"

No....that's leaking. Either it's a little loose, stripped or the crush gasket is no good

Ok thanks. It's not loose as I did check that. Guess I'll have to call tomorrow and raise a little hell.

Hopefully its just the gasket, if you have your bill you can check to see if they replaced 2 gaskets along with the 4 quarts of fluid.

All they have listed for parts is 14 qts of fluid. No gaskets.

So they did an inline flush with a machine.

They failed to replace the gasket and reused the check. I would expect them to replace it and ensure the level is correct.

Just take it back to the dealer and them you had a puddle on your garage floor, don’t tell them you messed with it.

OR, you could back it out a few turns, wrap some Teflon tape in the gap and snug it back down. Just make sure you get it pulled into the gap well, like dental floss.

This should suffice if you don't want to take the time to go back to the dealer. Just finding the time to go is a hassle for me, so I don't. The only time I've been to a dealer since I got my truck five years ago, was to have the frame inspected. Now, I need to make an appointment to have it treated.

I did my fluid a few weeks ago and was in a hurry and forgot to put the crushwasher back on the check plug. Had the same leak. Ended up pumping In 1/4 of a quart and reset the fluid level. My leak looked exactly like that.

So after 2 trips to the dealer, about 30 mins each, it has hopefully been fixed. They replaced both the gasket and check plug but didn't have them in stock, hence the second trip this evening.
