Is the trans cooler in the radiator? I pulled my cap the other day and it looked like this. drained the oil and it looked fine so starting to think the coolant could be mixing with ATF. anyone have similar experience?

That's the radiator. The transmission cooler is on the drivers side in front of the radiator and is much smaller (approx 4"x6" and all black).

Gotcha. So not even possible the coolant could be mixing with it?

Automatic trucks have a transmission cooler in the radiator, automatic trucks with the tow packag have a transmission cooler in front of the radiator in addition to the one in the radiator.

Yea they can get transmission fluid into the coolant and/or coolant into the transmission.

Yours looks fine but the coolant looks old, you should probably consider replacing it.

Transmission fluid in the coolant would make the coolant have an oily/creamy film under the cap and in the overflow bottle.

It can mix. Check the link below and there are plenty of other threads on this topic as well. I do not use the search bar here in TW. I use google, more relevant results. Meanwhile, here's a illustration on how the trans fluid flows from the transmission, through the radiator, through the aux cooler and back to the transmission.
The internal tank in the radiator that the trans fluid flows through can crack causing trans fluid to migrate into the radiator tank and coolant. Often called a pink milkshake.
