Okay my 09 5 lug just passed 63,000 miles and I’d like to do a drain and fill on the trans. Yes this has been beat to death I’m sure, but I do tow a lot with this truck hauling my lawn mower and stuff around the house. So I’d like to drain and fill it. My ? Is what kind of fluid should I use? My reading tells me I should get 4 quarts or so out of a drain and fill. Is this correct? Advice? Thanks

Owner's manual says Toyota Type T-IV fluid and 10.8 qt total capacity. Since you're doing a drain & fill (new fluid mixing with old fluid), stick with genuine Toyota fluid. Get 6 qts to be safe (in case of spillage, etc.)

Can’t mix old fluid with new fluid like Valvoline?

Always advisable to stick to the same brand when mixing fluids, so the additives don't work against each other.

If you were doing a full flush with a 12V pump, Valvoline would be OK.
