It’s not a filter, it’s a screen. Should be two bolts holding the screen in then pull down. At 30K I flushed mine with Maxlife ATF. 60K I did Amsoil blue cap pan change only. Found a company that sells deeper pans and was looking for suckers to test out their pans. So I got one for half price as long as I have them pictures and feedback. I gained 2.5-3 extra qrts of fluid. That was done at 80K. About to hit 90K and won’t touch it till 150K. I didn’t change the screen.

Gearcruncher, I have a question. On Amazon reviews of a trans pan gasket someone mentioned there were two different pans on our trucks and we need to count the number of bolts to get the right gasket. Is this true?

Is the Lubeguard completely necessary? I did a complete flush using Maxlife but no Lubeguard. is it worth it to add it now? flush done 20K mi ago and my trans is working great.

There are 2 transmissions used in the second generation Tacoma from 2005 - 2015

Your transmission is The Aisn Seiki A750E series transmission . It is the only transmission used behind the 4 liter engine .They call this transmission a sealed transmission because it doesn't have a dipstick with a filler tube . This unit has 20 pan bolts

The 4 cylinder Tacomas use the A340 series transmission and there is a filler tube with a dipstick . This unit has 19 pan bolts
I believe this is where the mistake was made by the owner of the truck when he placed his order from Amazon

Lubeguard is great stuff . That LXE additive they use turns your regular transmission fluid into a highly friction modified fluid .
I add the stuff to every transmission I service as well as overhaul .
You can call any transmission shop and ask if the product is that good .....I already know what they are going to tell you.

You can add it now or wait until your next service .
We have at least 1000 members at Tacoma World who swear it works very well
Have a look at their website where the product is explained .

Just had the 40mph shudder the other week. Classic symptoms. Going up a slight hill at 40mph warmed up would do it every time. Felt like light rumble strips. Between being a full time engineering student, working full time, kids activities, and army I have zero time to mess around in the garage anymore, so I made an appointment at the dealer. Wanted to get the frame looked at again anyway, it's been 2 years.

Truck drives awesome now, I was honestly surprised how much of a difference it made. I'm planning to add the lubegard at some point down the road just for piece of mind.

While we waited, wife and I took a sequoia for a test drive...so that's probably happening now too :rofl:That 5.7 is a real man...holy crap.

I looked at those, they worry me though... usually with a deeper pan you want a filter that sits down lower in the pan to ensure that it doesn’t suck air when the ATF sloshes around on hills or turns.

The deepest part of the pan sits aft of filter screen. So far I’ve got 10K on the new pan without issues. The level tube when checking the level is in the same spot as the factory pan.
