I've read a bewildering number of postings about part numbers for drain plugs, with and without magnets. I'm clear about the differential part numbers, but unclear about transfer case drain and fill plug part numbers. I'd appreciate some help with the numbers please.

There should be no reason to need or change T-Case drain and fill plugs. 24mm socket. Did you lose the plugs or something?

I just want them in case I need one. It is a long way to a dealership and I don't want to need to rent a car to get to one if I need to replace one for some reason.

Just crack each loose beforehand and then tighten them back up until you’re ready to do the job?

Should be 0 reason you need extra or replacements of either of them, they aren’t 10mm allens, so no one has problems with them.

Not trying to belittle the question or concern, but I really see no reason to buy extras. They come right out with a 24mm.

I promise you will never need one. I work on 20+ year old Tacomas almost weekly. Worked on a 1996 today. If you need a T case drain plug then you need to step away from the wrench, and let someone else service your truck. They don't wear out or strip ever.

In the salt areas on the 1st gens they fuse to the gasket and the tcase.

I can usually save them. It's the allen key front diff thats the big bastard. I still rarely change them.

Just need gaskets, crack both, if one is fubar, just retighten and buy it.

Count me spoiled working in SoCal. If your T-case drain plug is rust welded on, you likely have much bigger problems waiting for you.

I've started charging more for rust buckets. Sometimes 1-2 hours more for even simple stuff.

To be fair though, we don't have bugs and I've seen California a few times. I'd melt. The coast is nice but I'd be living in a cardboard box.
