I was changing the transfer case fluid on my 2006 V6 4x4 and was all finished up and putting back the fill plug. It started to rain and got I got impatient so I immediately started ratcheting on the plug. Eventually the plug started turning really easily and I knew I messed up. I pulled the plug out and found these on the threads of the hole. Any ideas what to do next? Everything i've read online seems to suggest that I need to tap a new set of threads a size or two larger. I'm just happy it was the fill plug and not the drain plug.
