I ordered some lf 75w Toyota transfer case fluid online and received it and was in a grey plastic bottle and not the tin can but was advertised as genuine Toyota fluid made in Belgium and is this fluid legit?

Probably received LV and not LF. A photo of what you received would be good.

Edit: looks like LF can also come in a gray bottle and is legit.

That taped cap leads me to believe the bottle was used to hold something other than Toyota branded fluid.

Many companies will add tape to unopened bottles for better security to keep the caps on and the bottle from leaking during shipping.

I bought my fluid on Amazon. Shipped from Toyota of North Miami and came in a can like the pictures on this link.

I did price the can at my dealer who wanted over $100. When I bought a couple of years ago I paid in the low $80 range. Could have got it slightly cheaper at other online sites but I did get a genuine can of fluid

Why would you open it and then ask the question? Usually when people open a bottle they use it. If you didn’t use it what made you decide to not use once it was opened? Intrigued by this for sure.

Agreed, but OP has already admitted he opened it and applied the tape.

Any Toyota product, I would go and buy it in dealership. Avoid buying OEM stuff online, there used to be scam with filters, rip to those people who got them and suffered their engine.

By the price tag, who knew toyota trucks ran so long because the transfer cases are lubricated with godzilla fluid.
friday tiktok tip: give the can a shake, if its fresh you should hear a creaky groan..If not, immediately return the can to the dealership and demand a freshly squeezed one.
