I have a front output leak on the transfer case on my 1997 Toacoma (3.4L 4x4 Ext Cab).

I have found this article discribbing the process for a 3rd Gen Runner ( ) and it's a good read. I can't get the pictures to load unfortunity.

Does any one have any advise on doing this for a 1st Gen Tacoma? Is there anything different with my 1st Gen Transfer Case? Or is it as simple as the author of that link suggests?

Any tips on removing the staked nut?

We had luck with an impact wrench. We tried pound out the'indent', and it was a non-starter.

Used punch and hammer on mine. That's the hardest part of changing the seal. Once you get nut of your done in about 30 minutes
