transfer case leak

    wondering how to check the fluid in transfer case, it is pretty wet on bottom, its a '97 tacoma 4x4

    Mine seems to 'sweat' a little but no actuall drip or leak that I've seen. Same thing is happening on my buddies '00 so not sure what it means.


    There is a fill plug about half way up the case. It looks like the head of a large bolt. Fits a 24mm socket IIRC. Remove it. You should feel gear oil by putting a finger in the opening. Its full if oil just barely come out when you remove the plug.
