    Just 3 tons of fun!!!

Opening up the T-case to re-seal it is no big thing. I had to open mine up to remove the "pill" there's a detent inside that makes the two pawls not work independently. To make my twin sticks be able to give me 2wd low gear, that "pill" had to be removed and some grinding had to be done to the pawls under where the shifters get mounted.

Long story short... If you open the shells just to re-seal... nothing is going to fall out or move out of it's home etc.

Pretty much the same places a trans could leak. So any competent mechanic could reseal for much much less than $1400. Hopefully someone can recommend a conveniently located competent mechanic.

I don't think you should try to remove the transfer case unless you have all the tools like a torque wrench and trans jack, etc. If you remove it you'll have to put it back and maybe top up the gear oil.
