Transfer case mount

So a few days ago I had my truck hoisted up (2001 tacoma ) and I noticed that there was a bracket that would supposedly be holding up my transmission just sitting loose. It was bolted on to the crossmember that goes across my frame but where it would normally bolt onto my transmission it was missing all four of the bolts. What I suspect happened was someone who took it off put it back on backwards and when the holes didnt line up they chose to leave it not bolted in. The reason I have to believe this is because when I jacked up my tranny and removed it and tried to do some bending and line up the bolts I flipped it 180 degrees and it seemed like a better fit much closer to the holes. I'm really not sure what to do at this point, do I try to bend it back to the right shape or do I buy a new part? Also is there any possible damage caused from it being loose the way it is?

Here's a tip

Use a ratchet strap around the t case and the frame to line up the holes

 

Considering you have a 2001 , I would be looking for other reasons why the bolts went missing . Motor mounts , frame twisted , lift kit etc etc

 

Is it okay if the holes line up and get bolted in but the rubber isnt evenly pressed down ? and I dont think the motor mounts are an issue I checked those and the frames straight.

 

How off are the holes

 

judging by your picture , the mount looks bent .

 

Yes the mount is bent, it got squished down/apart from the tranny pressing down on it

 

Call around to a couple auto wreckers . Those mounts are not common for having problems .
With this said , chances are you could probably find a good used one for a good deal

 

I have a spare one of those I'm not using

 

If the wrecker near me doesn't have one is this a part that I could order?

Fairly certain Toyota calls it the transmission mount

I suggest purchasing a new one. Toyota calls it an 'insulator', but I'm sure you will need to tell the guy or gal at the counter what it's for.

Toyota P/N is 12371-07020. The description on the bag is rear engine mount, but I believe the dealer invoice said insulator. You should confirm P/N with vin# anyway.

P/N is for 4x4 V6 Manual, btw.

 

Just to make sure it has 4 empty bolt holes? Iv been under a ton of these 1st gens and for some reason usually 1 or 2 of those tcase mount bolt heads are snapped off. Either way that thing looks destroyed.

 

yea all the holes are empty no snapped bolts surprisingly. Do you happen to know what the p/n is for 4x4 4cyl manual
