Transfer case noise and replacement less than 2k miles ??

Brought my gen 3 in with a noise that sounds like a wheel bearing noise at speeds between 7-30mph especially when braking toyota has narrowed it down to transfer case says this is a known issue with them and are awaiting updated case anyone else have any experience with this issue??

Seems weird to blame the transfer case for symptoms while braking.

Did they say exactly what was wrong inside the transfer case? Stuck actuator maybe?
How's your MPG and 4WD engagement?
