    Hey Guys,
When I disengage the 4wd and start moving, I get a pretty noticeable "Clunk". It seems to happen going forward and in reverse. I brought it to my mechanic who said he thought it was coming from the transfer case ... and had something to to with the "releasing" of tension that is created in 4wd (particularly on pavement). I don't know... I never heard that noise in my '97 Taco. This truck is an '03 and is new to me. Any thoughts or ideas?
    Thanks!

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
Normal tension release. Next time try disengaging while coasting....no foot on the skinny pedal.

Theres always an audible 'clunk' to some varying degree when engaging/disengaging 4wd, try to be pointed straight and not applying throttle when doing so and it should be minimal.

Oh and never use 4wd on pavement
