Transfer Case Replacement

I recently broke the threaded part where the drainplug goes in on my transfer case. Originally I was going to replace the rear plate until I realized that half of the gears are connected to that plate. I'm stuck between doing that or just putting a used TC in it but my issue is finding a TC that'll fit in my truck. I have a '99 Tacoma 3.4L manual transmission, manual locking hubs and no rear diff locker, finding one for my truck has been a hassle to say the least. All I've been able to find that may work is one from a 4cyl but the seller also seems to think it probably wouldn't fit. If anybody could help me out with leads to find one or if anyone is selling one I would greatly appreciate the help. I can pick up in central CA or surrounding areas or pay shipping if needed.

 

There’s 2 variations for the tcase: push button H/L & J-pattern. Knowing which one you have will help in your search. With that, a 4cyl and 6cyl tcase has different input spline count, not interchangeable.

A 4cyl will not be a direct fit, but you can swap the input from your v6 into the 4cyl if you can’t find a v6 case as a last ditch effort. It’s simple and can be done in ~15 minutes, depending on your comfort level.

Facebook market or Craigslist typically run ~200 and buying from a scrap yard is between 3-400, with eBay being 400+.

Which part of the valley are you located? Fresno area? Your pictures look like Shuteye Peak? Post in your regional section, that will also increase your chance of finding one, being able to direct fit.
