I don't think that toyota's LF fluid has a a secret ingredient. It just has a reduced level of the sulphur/phosphorus EP additive so it is friendlier to any softer yellow metals present but I am not positive about that. Anybody know about the presence of yellow metal(copper, bronze, brass) in the transfer case?

I ran Ravenol for about 55k or so. It came out looking good and never gave me trouble, but in that time, I installed the 2Lo Mod and was using it daily. So, I went with the Toyota LF stuff. Delivered at the time, it was about $55. I would say that it was a mistake to swap it at 7k, but rest of the driveline fluids were worth swapping.

I'd say go with the Toyota stuff in this case. Don't change it until 90k and leave it in there for 90k.
