Transfercase actuator

2011 55,000 miles TDR ,auto
Yep my xcase gets stuck in 4low , will not come out ? It has happened twice now , ( put all 4 tires on jack stands and still had a heck of a time ) It did finally come out , so what up with that ? I have searched looking for a fix , but not much info out there ? would like to take the actuator off and clean it , but my searching for info is , not great ??? can I take that plastic black cover off it ?
without screwing it up ? thanks
Looks like these electric actuator are going to be a big problem for toyota owners ?
