Come on dude seriously? I may not be a mechanic, but I'm also not a mystery flavor dum dum either... Yes, I changed the tcase. Yes, the notchy shifting stopped the DAY AFTER I changed the oil. On the bottle of red line it says something about curing notchy shifts or something. I know I'm not imaging things...

I use this for the front and rear diffs. It smells yucky though, and of course I spilled some all over my arm so I had the pleasure of smelling it for days after.

It's just a standard taco. Thank you for your supreme response!

Wow that made me laugh out loud (not at your mishap, at that smell that haunts my dreams!). There's a big empty bottle with arms and legs chasing me squirting me with smelly 75w90 yelling as he chases me "your taco can't save you nooooooowwwwwww!!!" Lol

Yeah I overestimated the strength of the cap and thought I could store it in case it would be needed on a trail run...nope

Where'd it leak the threads or the hole you cut? It leaked out the threads for me while doing the front diff. I'm pretty proud of the method I used instead of a pump. I got some plastic tube, put it over the bottle tip and gorilla taped it up. I know, probably the most sophisticated shit you've heard on this entire site!!! I'll let you use my idea though

If you put gear oil in the auto, you'll need a new transmission.

READ YOUR THREAD TITLE: YOU ARE ASKING ABOUT ***TRANSFER CASE***. Not transmission. 4AT/5AT/5MT/6MT are TRANSMISSIONS.

The MT transmissions take the same kind of oil as the transfer case and differentials.
The AT transmissions have red stuff called ATF.

Every single thing that you say reinforces my concern that you don't know the difference between a transmission and a transfer case. This post is no different.

I am *almost certain* that you changed the TRANSMISSION oil, and NOT the transfer case oil.

The transfer case is bolted onto the back end of the transmission. If you don't look carefully enough, you won't see where one ends and the other one starts. They do NOT share oil. There are TWO OIL SEALS between them. If you changed the oil in the transfer case, it CAN NOT impact the feel of shifts, since the shifting is done by the TRANSMISSION.

As far as what it says on the bottle about curing notchy shifts, that OBVIOUSLY would only apply if you actually put it in the thing that does the shifting. IT WILL NOT MAKE SHIFTING SMOOTHER IF YOU POUR IT ON YOUR HEAD!

Ok dude maybe it's the weather changing or temperature difference. but I know what a transfer case is, so go Fuck yourself.

Congradulations on being the first person on the site to talk shit and puss me off. I'm sorry I'm not a Toyota mechanic like you.

Not sure if this is actually true if caught in time. WS transmission fluid is thinner than gear oil. You can flush the transmission and cooling circuit pretty thoroughly with a pump like this one: https://www.amazon.com/Performance-Tool-W54170-Extraction-Automotive/dp/B00R8FIYFS

lol, it leaked out of the seal (threads), it's just not strong enough of a seal to be laid sideways for a long period of time. Those bottles were designed to be used all in one setting, not partially I guess.

If you're feeling pissed off, then its your own fault. I'm just trying to help you not to very seriously eff up your father's truck, since you clearly are having a hard time with it.
