    i would start at the u joints, they can give off signs for a long time before they fail.

    Jack up one of the rear tires, see if you have a lot of play by trying to rotate the tire that is off the ground. Having a bit of leverage should help you see any play in the drive shaft too. Some play is normal.

    spider gears are 2 of the 4 gears in an open rear diff. unless you've run without fluid in the rearend - or your dealer removed the 3rd member of your rear axle, there is no way for them to diagnose that problem. and if they're bad, i'm guessing it would be loud as hell. prolly vibrating a bit too though.

    my vote: stay away from that dealership. rotate your tires and see if it helps/changes the vibes. my view is if the vibration frequency (as in the rate of shaking, not the sound of it) doesn't fluctuate with vehicle speed (same at 15 as it is at 70) your problem is under the hood.

    Problem solved. It was the u-joints. Sorry I couldn't post pics, too busy doing the job. Thanks for all the help.
