Hello everyone, I have been looking for the refilling hole for my transmission on my Tacoma SR 2.7L 4cyl 3rd generation.

I’m planning to do the transmission fluid change, but I haven’t found tutorials regarding the model of my Taco.
Do you guys know how can I perform this service?
Does anyone have a guide for this specific model?

    I would really appreciate it.

While I was looking for the bolt I found this one that has WS on it, I found a video that said that is the plug, but seems that it is not the right place for it.
    Picture attached.

    Is your SR 4x4 or 2wd? Transmission is AC60F for 3rd gen 4x4 and AC60E for 3rd gen 2wd.

The drain hole is on the bottom of the pan. The fill hole is that one up high at the rear of the trans on the passenger side.

The drain/fill process is identical no matter if 2.7L or 3.5, 2wd or 4x4. It involves the temp check procedure. Google and YouTube have some well made video tutorials on doing that properly.

@Clinch Mountain Preacher Thank you for that information this is so helpful!
    Yes My Taco is 2WD
With this I was able to find the correct procedure RM000004LXE00UX.

By a chance Do you know where I can confirm the type of engine I visually compare mine with some google images and determined that is a 2TR-FE, can you correct me if I'm wrong?
If I'm wrong how I can know the type.

That Manual you have looks amazing, getting the explosion of the parts, do you know if I can get it online?

You are correct as all 3rd gen tacoma 2.7L 4cyl are the 2TR-FE (probably the best and more reliable 4cyl gas engine ever shoved into a truck of any brand, btw).

The driver's side door jamb usually has a sticker with the VIN, build date, body/chassis type and engine type serial codes etc. If ever you need extra info you can use those serial numbers and Google to figure out more info about your vehicle, tho.

Sorry, I don't have a better diagram sadly. Had to look pretty hard just to find that one.

FYI. Always open the fill bolt first!!! If it is frozen you wouldn’t want to drain your fluid first.

Are you aware of the correct fill/check procedure?

If you don't have a OBDII scanner to check the trans temp, you'll have to use the hot wire method just be careful to connect only the correct pins!

That Car Care Nut video shows the procedure very well

@Dm93 On the tutorial I saw it says I need to leave it running for 10 minutes maybe lease if it is too hot. Any recommendation to do not exceed the temperature?

Yeah that is why I motivated to do it.
I got all the information compile so I feel confident to do it.
I have an OBDII SCANNER IF I have it I can skip the procedure ? Or I have to do it anyways? Or after using the wire to get into the level mode check(Christmas tree lights on dashboard) I can use the scanner?

If your scanner is capable of showing your trans temp in real time, you're good to go and no need to use the wire in that case

It would definitely be over the check temp in 10 minutes, my method for Toyota transmissions that us this check method typically is to fill it with the aproximate amount then start it and run it though all the ranges several times then top it off until it runs out of the check plug. By then it's usually up to the minimum temp but if it isn't I let it idle with the check plug out until it gets there then put the plugs in and drive it.
