I did... and he seemed to think that the massive hesitation was, as he put it "the throttle, transmission, and ECU all trying to communicate" which takes that long apparently

I let him know that I was completely unsatisfied with the outcome of his decision and that I would be contacting the regional rep and Toyota Corporation!

Wtf? Why would a service manager not have the ability to have an opinion about you car?

    That's their job...

I understand that... but I'd totally disagreed with it and he basically said here's your truck and your shitty shifting transmission, good luck out there

And he didn't know shit about the truck! He didn't know what size motor was in it, how many gears it had, how many units they sold! He didn't know shit about the vehicle he was testing but yet all the sudden he was an expert on the transmission in it and how it shifts!? I don't fucken think so! I think his opinion was very invalid!

If someone walked into your place of work giving you a pop quiz and trying to tell you how to do your job would you be inclined to help said person?

There was no pop quiz given...lmao. that was just small talk that we were having while we we're driving the trucks around. Just really surprise me that he didn't know anything about the vehicle that he was driving or about to give his professional opinion on. I'm supposed to just walk away with a transmission thats working improperly!? in customer service, that is your job.. to serve and help the customer! Especially when they just spent $40,000 on one of your products!

I am going to roll the dice here and say your truck is still low on fluid .
As other members have done with complete success , can you try a different dealer ?
Some members had to make a couple visits to the dealer before they actually managed to get the transmission filled properly

Have a reputable transmission shop road test your truck . Road tests are free
These are a couple options you can try .
Did you call corporate to start the paper trail ?

Yes I have 3 Toyota dealerships within 30 minutes of my house :) and yes I have contacted corporate 3 different times and they basically said all they can do is take notes/documentation and then email the issue directly to the dealership. The dealership is supposed to handle the issue according to corporate when I talked to them earlier today.. but yes thank you for your very wise and generous input :) I will be trying another dealership tomorrow thank you!!

Went to the dealership on Friday to show them that my hood was separating and causing the vibration issue. While there I asked one of the tech writers if they checked the fluid when they PDI. He looked like he was BSing when he replied with a weak "We always do that."

Fearing they were gonna give me the run around, I came home, printed up the first post on this forum and brought it with me the next day. A different tech writer was there that morning, and she admitted the process to check fluids during the PDI was time consuming so it was often overlooked. I showed her this post and told her I wanted it checked and she agreed and scheduled it into my service.

I actually considered the fact that they could simply lie about it and just say "yep, checked it and it was fine" just to humor me, but fortunately when I came back to the service dept a few hours later to pick up a loaner car, they had my truck in the bay and were adding fluid. What a relief! When I came to pick it up a few days later, they said it took a quart of fluid. You just can't trust anybody these days.

Big thanks to @gearcruncher for the post. The difference was night and day when I picked it up. Less hunting or hesitating between gears, and no lag at all from reverse to drive. Why is there no TSB for this? Should I call Toyota to report this?

So has anyone tried busting Toyota's balls on this and get an extended warranty to cover the damage that has already been done running a truck 1 1/2 quarts under for a few months?

not really about being low. He just said when he was pulling into the garage noticed the lag from R-D. But they didnt seem to have much concern it was low and the service writer said they havnt had any others in with this issue
