The tow package includes a trans cooler, which takes a volume of oil to fill. I don't know if the factory considers this volume after the transmission is installed and filled.

EDIT: Removed "to spec" after filling. After all, that's what this thread is all about!

kinda sad that now Toyota wants shops to buy all this expense instead of a fill tube. If more people saw this then the manual xmission sales would skyrocket. Nevermind, just remembered where I live, home of the fat and lazy where obesity is an epidemic and life expectancy is on the decline for the first time in human evolution. Pushing in a clutch peDAL, ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

One thing I am absolutely positively convinced about thus far in this thread. I WILL NOT BUY A USED 2ND OR 3 RD GEN TACOMA UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. I was considering still buying a new one, but now I have to wonder what else is not being done at the factory level that may lead to premature failure. Are they watering down the antifreeze lmao. Hey you dunt need no stinkin gaskets, just put some gear lube in that engine! I hate to date myself ,but I do remember when you could get an automobile vin with a J in it.

So, these are coming with 4 tires and a key. Do the Chinese make cars yet? I am looking for a pot metal engine with no lube on anything.

If you signed the purchase agreement, well the dealership will quickly lose interest in you and move onto the next buyer.

Always like to hear about dealerships with good service after the sale. Poor techs are caught in the crossfire with need to earn money and low paying prep and warranty work. I consider every service writer to be the same as the finance manager.

if the forum is too hard for you to read then by all means go to a dealership and trust what they say.

I have learned the hard way to do as much research as possible before buying. If I decide to buy a tacoma, it will have to be a manual. I am really considering a Frontier as well. The only vehicle I have purchased in the last 10 years that is really high quality is a motorcycle made by Honda and built in Japan. Hate to say it, but american made vehicles are crap once again and cost way too much and that goes for honda, nissan and toyota.

Sorry but Toyota has known about this for a long time and continues to ignore it as well as not lubing the vehicles properly.

Lolz, you may want to check your purchase agreement for an arbitration clause. READ ALL OF THE FINE PRINT.

YOU CANNOT DO A CLASS ACTION WITH AN ARBITRATION AGREEMENT. THAT IS WHY EVERY PURCHASE AGREEMENT HAS ONE. Do some homework before you run off half cocked. These dealerships are tricksy hobbits. Some hide the arbitration clause in the warranty and then reference it on the backside of the purchase agreement. Class action against auto manufacturers and dealerships will come to a screeching halt since they have the money to pay the lobbyists.

If you have read this far into this thread and you are picking up a Tacoma with an automatic transmission, then I can see why Toyota does not bother to fix problems.

1 quart low built in Mexico, ran 3k+ miles so far. Great dealer didn't argue when requested to check and added quart.

    I love my truck
