For all of you that have first gens, this may/may not be familiar to you. I own an 04 dc 4x4 v6 auto. I'm pulling up to a four way stop about 30 mins ago. As I begin to accelerate from the stop, the truck shifts fine as always from 1st to 2nd. As soon as 2nd hits, it kicks to 3rd immeadently, then back to 2nd w/o a blink of an eye. It continues this for 5-7 times within 4 seconds, then stayed in 3rd and continued to 4th. This sorta scared me a bit as reliable as this truck has been. PLEASE can anyone tell me if a have a screwed trans??

Spunds like you should do a drain and fill. Probably have some gunk built up.

That's what I was thinkin as well, I had just switched to full synthetic 3 days ago, but I don't think that would do any harm

^^^^ Do you mean you switched to synthetic motor oil? If so, that will not affect the transmission.

Have you done anything to the tranny recently?

Have you installed an external tranny cooler, if so did you bypass the internal one?

You have a computer controlled transmission . Best thing you can do is hook it up to a scanner . Was the issue happening before you changed the fluid ?

EDIT : if I had to guess , it sure sounds like the transmission is in garage/limp mode .A scanner will tell you what the issue is .Autozone scans for free . Get them to print out the codes and we can go from there . You didnt mention mileage ??

I have some info here you can read

Yeah synthetic motor oil, and its actually been running smoother until this happens. I haven't touched the tranny since I bought it last April. Ive never thought about the cooler it may not be a bad idea. It haven't changed the fluid, but preciate it ill check out that link!
