I wouldn’t perform a flush on your truck, my truck or anyone else’s truck. A drain and refill is the way to go. Ask around here and see if I’m wrong.

Haven't seen any reason beyond hear say as to why a flush is bad.

There is a way to do it and run ALL the fluid out while replacing with fresh fluid.
Seen here: The General Maintenance thread

By all means then, go get a flush. If you are here on this forum I would have thought you’d be interested in listening to what everyone thought. I don’t expect you to take my word for it. Read some threads here. You will find all you need to know. Many great and knowledgeable people here. Ask and listen. Everyone here will be happy to help you make the right choices.

look at the post I left. I edited it. There is a link on how to's. I understand why you made the thread. You might get better results posting in your local section or doing as others have mentioned and making some phone calls. Find the local sections here at TW and be patient for replies there.

I have looked around on the forum, and it would seem that most pf the problems with flushes come from improperly done flushes or transmissions that already had some kind of issue. That is why I made this post, I want to know about a good shop that will do that flush right.

Yep. I used 16 quarts and likely got >90% of the original fluid out. I’m fixing to do another 4 quarts here next month and I’ll drain another 4 quarts and refill every 30,000 miles. I also just made myself a replacement drain plug with a molybdenum magnet on it to take a little pressure off the filter.

That's the way to do it

I dunno... I give up. Trying to steer OP in the right direction but I'm not calling shops for them. If they don't take you up on the offer that's on them. Hard to explain what "proper" is to someone that doesn't want to learn what proper is or thinks a shop is going to do it better.

It’s not a closed system, or if it is it’s the same as every other automatic transmission. It just doesn’t have a dipstick. lol

99.99% of the “flushes” people talk about are simple fluid exchanges. The vehicle is started and the pump picks up fresh fluid from a container instead of the pan and pumps it into another container.

There is no additional pressure, fluid direction changes, or anything else.

So naturally you blame the flush, but is there any evidence that the flush actually hurt anything? That's like saying I changed my oil and my engine failed, so oil changes are bad.

I am sick of typing about this but here goes LOL

You take the pan off to clean the magnets and clean the bottom of the pan , change the screen ..Cut the old screen open .
Judging by what you find in the bottom of the pan gives you a baseline of the condition of your transmission and to continue removing the fluid out of the torque converter by flushing .
When you pop the pan off , you only get half the oil out .
The transmission pan is the septic tank of the transmission . Your fluid worked hard all its life by depositing debris on the pan floor , the magnets and the filter .
Now its time for a transmission service and you risk introducing new fluid with super detergents into the septic tank without removing the pan to clean these crucial components ?

Take a guess what those super detergents do when introduced to a dirty pan
The detergents lift those particles from the bottom of the pan and force those particles through your valve body .
Ask me how I know this ? There are at least 3 posts a week on Tacoma world .
An example just the other day . There are many more
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/torque-converter.748135/

A flushing machine uses your transmission pump from your transmission . The fluid goes is the same direction . There is no change in fluid flow or pressure .

I know that, I would make sure the shop pulled the pan.

The ones I used back in the day had separate reservoirs for fluid. One side would only receive dirty fluid from the truck, the other would only pump out fresh clean fluid. There was no exchange between the clean and dirty sides of the system so it doesn't matter what was hooked up to it before.

Yep I blame the flush that liberated all the crap and cost a 3 K tranny. All that said there probably are places that would do it correctly and not cause issues. But the OP is asking for a shop and that means they don’t know of a good one. Drain and fill for me. Why does he need a flush? Is the tranny acting up???
