Yea if you switch your 33's back to stock and you get the same tech looking at your truck again it would look weird. Doesn't really matter what tech looks at it, the last guy probably made note of it as mentioned above.

Okay so dealer just called me, they said want to do an "ECM TSB" test which he also referred to as a pressure test and a transmission computer update to see if those help first???
I have no idea what that means but I'm scheduled to go in Friday.
If that doesn't work they will send a "Toyota Warranty Tech" to come inspect it.

This I the reason I haven't lifted my truck yet since it's still under warranty. Why risk it. Once the warranty expires then I'll lift it

Am I missing a post here, or is Toyota's powertrain warranty still 60 months/60,000 miles?

Yes it has extended warranty, it's actually been doing it for a while now just wasn't as noticeable as it is now.

Dealerships are independently owned, they get paid for the warranty work from Toyota. Most don't care about mods unless they do warranty work and Toyota doesn't approve (pay) for it. And if the OP takes them to court he would have to hire a lawyer to sue and be out that money if he doesn't win, now I know they would have to reimburse but Toyota has deep pockets and can afford to tie it up in court, idk if the OP can.

Then I guess I have to eat some humble pie.

Regardless, good luck. Please dont go into this spouting internet legal advice and lawsuits. A dealer can find a million reasons to void your warranty. You get more flies with sugar than vinegar, dont forget. Keep us posted.

I am a different type of mechanic (skis) but I have been doing it long enough that with just a quick glance I know what all the equipment is and what has been done to it.
It doesn't take a complete look over and carefully reading tire size #'s to see different rims and tires and a lift.

Let them jump you through hoops

    Be calm and polite.

    Leave the truck as-is.

A close friend that works at the dealer as a service advisor told me to slap the stocks back on. So did the service advisor that called me on what steps they were going to take first.
The trucks going today for transmission flush, my appointment was moved up for today instead of Friday.

Just started reading this post from beginning. I am pretty sure there are plenty owners who have put lifts and + size wheels/tire combinations with no transmission issues. Toyota knows their Tacoma owners modify their trucks in various ways.

I am not an engineer or automotive technician.

But why would you slap on stock parts? That is like admitting your aftermarket parts are the cause of the transmission issues.

Whatever test they are doing wouldn't you want to have it done with current configuration?

I have never known a transmission flush to fix existing transmission issues but I could be wrong (bad shift sensor, gearing, etc).

I hope it goes your way though.

Toyota designs the vehicle to work a certain way with certain components. They know people will modify them, but that is taking damage into your own hands. How is a contender. Pant supposed to warranty there product when you are knowing doing something to it it was not designed with.
Maybe he only did a slight increase in tires, but the next guy puts on massive tires that really screwed up the vehicle and complains because they allowed the other person. So a manufacture just says they warranty a stock setup. That way they don't have to defend what point the mods are to far.

Different situation since he is talking about an extended warranty. No MMA here.

Not sure what's going to happen, I was told by both service advisors that I'd be best to put the stock tires and wheels back on, so I did.
I dropped it off yesterday and was told they'd do a flush and a pressure test.
I was then called latter that if I'd like to come back for a rental because the truck wouldn't be ready till next day(today).
So now I'm in a rental waiting for the call, he said he should have good news or bad news if the work made a difference; by mid day.

So the claim was denied, they blamed it on the lift.
