I dont think there is much of a damage risk . All you are doing is replacing the fluid . You are not actually operating the truck which eliminates the possibility of overheating the clutching or running internal torrington bearings completely dry ..
Like I mentioned above though , when you disconnect the return cooling line from the transmission , the remaining old transmission fluid will gravity drain from the torque converter . Its an easy way to get that extra 7 quarts of fluid out of the converter without having to flush .

Time for a trans flush at 109,000 miles, it was changed according to records at 40,000 at a jiffy lube last time. With my 2011 having over 100,000 miles should I just do a pan drop and change the screen and drain and refill or let the dealer do a power flush. I have never been a fan of this type of flush honestly...

Any recommendations on either Full Flush or just Drain & Fill. Currently my Truck has 168,520 miles and I’m the second owner.

    Here’s my take:

Any vehicle I buy second hand gets a complete work over -fluids, brakes, grease, belt, everything. I make a list and just starting going through it.

If you are going to the trouble of changing the trans fluid you might as well swap it all out, it only takes a minor amount of extra effort.
