So I had just bought my first Tacoma from a dealer ship just on 12/17, dove fine. Friday the shifting started to be a little weird so I was gonna take to the dealership on Monday to get checked. I didn’t drive Saturday, Sunday came, took it 10 mins down the road and when on my way back it seemed there was no power when pressing on the gas the rpms remained low, I was only a min away from my house so I tried to push it get home, the truck then started to vigorously shake, then shut off, the check engine light came on along the traction control off light. I tried to start it up again it turned, put it into drive no forward movement, just shook and shut off again

also, forgot to mention the dash read high temperature transmission fluid, which I was thought was odd just driving off a lot from the dealership

Sounds like it’s time for a tow truck back to the dealer

Definitely needs to go to the dealer. A few things you can do. 1) Auto Parts store will read the OBD (On-board diagnostics) error codes for free. 2) You can check generic error messages in the head unit display MENU->INFO->VEHICLE ALERT HISTORY. 3) Unhook the hot wire on the battery for a few seconds and this will reset the error codes and may allow the truck to run properly. This will clear the error codes of the OBD which the dealer will need.

Haven’t spoke to the dealership yet. They were closed today. I still have the 3000 miles aren’t, only drive it under 100 miles since I got it, but from what I’m telling you do you think the tranny failed, would it be worth it to demand the dealership to replace the tranny?

Go read your MENU->INFO->VEHICLE ALERT HISTORY and come back and tell us what it says.

the whole reason you work so hard to buy a new truck is cus its new, if they put in a new engine or tranny its been tampered it doesnt have that new feeling, I would want a new truck or a refund, lemon law after a month

tow it to the dealer, dealer will band aid it, if they cant fix it then time is essential and you need to see your best options, I would personally want a different truck same brand but just a different one
