Maybe the pdf software on your phone is the issue. I can download and read them on Linux and Windows.

Why does it take a 10 page tech manual explanation in order to just check trans fluid level? So over the top. A dip stick or a drain plug at the right height would have been so much easier. I love tech- most of the time...

Probably to keep ppl from adding fluid and/or introducing contaminates in the process .
A simple alternative to a dipstick is a plug with built in sight glass to indicate fluid fill levels like they have on some commercial construction heavy equipment, or the power steering pump/brake fluid reservoirs.
But that would be too easy and simple for us lolo!

    Cheers!

Hey, noob here, sorry if this is a dumb question but how do you "jump" the pins if you don't have techstream? I saw someone mentioned a copper Bobby pin but I don't even know where I'd get one of those. Thanks in advance.

So is everyone utilizing the Toyota Genuine ATF WS when doing this? If so, can it be had at the parts house? If not using this ATF, what are yall using instead?

I bought my tranny fluid, o-ring for the filler plug and compression ring for the fluid check plug from the dealer. Keep the receipt. Some day it may prove intent to do the work properly should you have warranty issues later. Yes it's a little more expensive than generic transmission fluid and reusing the seal rings but you are dealing with a 40,000 truck by the time you get it out the door.

Hey man, just curious how much did the o ring cost and the compression ring? And why not reuse the old ones since the truck is new still?

They are a dollar or two each, at most. Can you re-use the original ones without a leak ... probably. But do you want to risk a leak on a $35K truck over a $2 part?

Has there been any discussion of anyone retrofitting a tranny dipstick?
