    Hi Guys -

I just had my transmission rebuilt about a month ago. The shop didn't tighten the drain plug enough, so I had a small leak going for a while. Once I realized this I tightened the plug up and checked the fluid - and it was way too high (or so I thought).

So .. thinking the fluid was too high .. I drained some out via the radiator hoses. Now this is the moment where I actually researched how to properly check the tranny fluid level. I found an excellent thread on this forum, and realized that I was an idiot and I probably didn't need to drain any of the fluid because I wasn't checking it properly.

After all that - I warmed the truck up, shifted it through all the gears once or twice, then checked the fluid - then added fluid back in until it was right where I needed it between the two 'hot' marks. This was about two weeks ago.

I just got home from work today, and decided to check the level while the truck was still hot. Same procedure - shifted through all the gears, cleaned and re-dipped the stick, and now its too high again?!

I think there is something I'm missing. Please advise?

    Thanks!

How "high" on the dipstick tube?

Could be you put in a little too much this time around. When you checked it the first time around, you did it incorrectly so you can't use that as a gauge to judge off of.

Make sure you're on level ground when checking fluids and make sure the vehicle is on.
