Does anyone have any experience replacing these two lines? The one is corroded and has a leak. Can I just pull it and replace it or will it need to be drained and filled? It seems to come as a one unit and you pop the whole thing in.IMG_3288.jpg

Check the other lines. On previous taco they started to leak so the dealer covered replacement since it was considered drive train. Btw, I had to find it in writing and for the dealer service guy. Who I forced to call Toyota. It took at least 1/2 hr but was free.

No need to drain the trans if you don't want to. But you will need to top it off and check that it is at the proper level since you really don't know that it is at the full level now. If the dealer doesn't step up, this is probably a good time to do a drain and refill or a full service depending on the mileage. By the looks of it, I wouldn't advise prolonging the repair. If it springs a leak - you will have a big mess on your hands.

Not sure on the warranty, but I would do the trans filter at this time if you don't know if it was done ??

IMG_3312.jpg Thanks again, I went to the dealer and they had the part on hand,it is a very common replacement here in the rust belt. Aside from two rusted bolts, it was a very simple replacement with minimal fluid loss. The only reason I’ll be checking it is because I’m unsure how much I lost before I realized this was an issue. While I was at the dealer I also replaced my fuel door that rusted and snapped off. I’ll be leaving it black primer.

If I were you I would start on a frame maintenance program on the frame once the weather gets better there are many threads on this subject. That specific pipe I have coated with Amsoil heavy duty metal protector. My .05 due to inflation. G.L.
