    OP here- update
    hi filled 3.75 quarts, got it up to operating temperature and then ended up removing about 0.25 quarts by the fill bolt. been driving the car for a few days, shifts are smooth once again. Glad this worked out, thank you all for the help!

    Now take a paint pen and write Trans next to the Trans drain plug, and Eng next to the Eng drain plug.

    2020 + check procedure work great for me (thanks Mattleg).For OP don't forget than the oil sump (filter) it's at the bottom of oil pan ,
    so doesn't matter if you are 1/2 quart low or so . with that said if you are at 2 quarts + low and you go off road at 45 degree's angle , you will be maybe in trouble...........

    Members on the board have drained and refilled with 3.5 quarts of fluid and are reporting positive feedback.
