Transmission flush?

Hi, my 2nd gen Tacoma transmission is slipping going into 3rd gear. Is it worth it to have it flushed? Any trouble shooting I should do before seeking a replacement? Thanks!

 

I'm assuming you have an automatic.
If it's already slipping a flush isn't going to help and may even finish it off.
Have you had it checked for codes?

Could you give us a bit more information ?
Mileage ?
How often has the trans fluid been changed ?
How long has this been happening ?
Does it slip when cold and hot ?
Third gear is also used to obtain reverse . Does the transmission slip in reverse as well ?

 

I would drop the pan and observe how big the metal particles are in the fluid. That will tell you what to do next
