can anyone help me out? been dealing with this for about 3 weeks now. i just changed my clutch and changed my transmission. still getting a grinding sound in 3rd and 4th gear. 1st and 2nd gear just vibrates my truck like a 9.0 magnitude earthquake. anyone know why it sounds like my transmission is grinding?

It’s going to be hard to say with changing the transmission and clutch at the same time, usually one or the other has issues. Was your transmission having issues before that were different from what’s going on now? Did you replace your transmission with a rebuilt one or one from a junkyard?

the same thing has been happening before i changed both transmission and clutch. so i figured if i changed everything the problem would go away lol. to answer your question i bought it rebuilt from a junkyard

Seems crazy to have such similar things happening to both. Hopefully someone else has some ideas of what’s going on with your truck

    Did you resurface/replace your flywheel?

    Just to clarify everything:

You get massive vibrations in 1st and 2nd
And you get grinding noise in 3rd and 4th

So there’s no grinding in 1/2 and no vibrations in 3/4?
    Is 5th gear normal?

Are the grinding noises during shifting or the whole time, and are both the noises and grinding RPM dependent?

And you already replaced both the clutch and the entire transmission, but neither changed anything.

I think you need to widen your problem search: Brakes? Axles, Driveshaft?
