    Hey Guys,
So tonight I was driving and when I turned around to back down my driveway and when I went put my truck in reverse I lost all gears. First a little back ground on my truck it's an 11 double cab 6spd mt. I've been hearing some chatter while idling and first is sometimes difficult to get into gear. About 2018 I lost my OEM clutch, after way too many people learned to drive manual on my truck. I was on a road trip and on time crunch and they threw in what ever they could find. Anyway back to the problem, I'm going to check the bushing for my shifter tomorrow in the daylight. other than that what could be my problem? If I'm going to pull the transmission I'm gonna replace the clutch so what's recommended? I was gonna go URD but they don't have 2nd gen on the site any more. What should I check before taking it to shop? I'm not super handy but I can do a few things but not tear a truck apart. anything would help thanks in advance.

First of all, welcome to the forum!

    1. It would not surprise me to find that your mystery clutch replacement has failed. The V6 had a TSB early for the center of the disk detaching and creating the symptoms you describe. Perhaps an old disk from an early OEM or aftermarket clutch was put in (??) FYI the TSB dates to about 2010 and IIRC that thereafter the problem with the OEM clutch had been solved, as well as a new supplier used (now Aisin).

    2. Good to check the bushing. Also when you are in there go a little bit further and take off the shift tower bolted to the main trans and see if the shift rod is firmly attached on the bottom allowing it to slip around. This is the rod that then goes horizontally into the transmission. A single bolt secures the part.

    3. More than one 1st gear/Reverse shift fork inside the transmission has been broken during abusive(?) shifting. This seemed to apply primarily to the early 2nd gens from 2005 but by 2011 so many parts inside the RA60 had been upgraded and revised that I would be real surprised to actually find that in yours.

    4. Many here, myself included, have found the OEM clutch hard to beat for the NA engine. Its not uncommon to find high miles on one that has not been seriously abused. I just obtained a new OEM clutch disk and flywheel for my 6-speed and will install when the time comes.

I cant be sure but it was a small shop about an hour away from the nearest place that would have access to OEM part so I would think it's unlikely but not out f the question. I should have asked more question's but didn't.

Defiantly seen some abuse. an never had the shift fork replace so its a possibility. are their significant sign of if being the shift fork that i could identify?

That's good to hear cause its an easy option and if I don't find something significant in after market then i will go this route.

    thanks for your input.
